About the PDF Merger

The PDF Merger combines two or more PDF files into a single document, entirely inside your browser. Drop your files onto the page or click Choose files, put them in the order you want with the up and down arrows, and click the Merge button. Every page of every file is copied, in that order, into one new file called merged.pdf that downloads straight to your device.

Your files stay on your device. Merging uses pdf-lib, a JavaScript PDF library that runs in the page itself. The PDFs are read from your disk into browser memory and the merged file is built there; nothing is uploaded to our server. That makes it a sensible choice for contracts, invoices, bank statements and other documents you'd rather not send anywhere.

Who it's for. Freelancers bundling an invoice with timesheets and receipts, job seekers combining a cover letter and résumé into one attachment, landlords assembling a lease packet, and students joining assignment pages that were saved as separate files.

Example. You have invoice-0423.pdf (1 page), timesheet-april.pdf (2 pages) and receipts.pdf (5 pages). Add all three, use the arrows so the invoice sits at the top, then click Merge 3 PDFs. You get an 8-page merged.pdf: the invoice on page 1, the timesheet on pages 2–3 and the receipts on pages 4–8.

Limits to know. Each file can be up to 100 MB, and because everything happens in memory, a very large batch can be more than an older phone or laptop can handle — merge in smaller groups if the browser struggles. Password-protected PDFs can't be opened until the password is removed. The tool merges whole files only: it doesn't select individual pages, rotate, compress or reorder pages inside a file.

How to use it

  1. Add your PDFs. Drop PDF files onto the box or click Choose files to pick them.
  2. Check the queued files. Each file appears in a numbered list with its size; non-PDFs and files over 100 MB are skipped.
  3. Reorder with the arrows. Use the up and down arrows so file 1 is the one you want first.
  4. Remove any extras. Click the trash icon next to a file to take it out of the list.
  5. Click Merge. Press the Merge button and merged.pdf downloads to your device.

Frequently asked questions

How do I change the order of files in the PDF Merger?

Use the up and down arrows next to each file in the queue; the file numbered 1 becomes the first pages of merged.pdf. The pages inside each file keep their original order.

Why does the PDF Merger say my file is password-protected?

Encrypted PDFs can't be read by the in-browser merger. Open the file with its password in a PDF viewer, print or save it as a new PDF without a password, and add that copy instead.

What is the file size limit in the PDF Merger?

Each PDF can be up to 100 MB, and there's no fixed cap on how many you add. The practical limit is your device's memory, since every file is held in the browser while merging; if a merge fails, try fewer or smaller files.

Are bookmarks and form fields kept when I combine files with the PDF Merger?

The tool copies each file's pages, so the visible page content comes across, but document-level extras such as the bookmarks (outline) panel aren't rebuilt in merged.pdf, and fillable form fields may not behave as they did in the originals. Check the merged file if those features matter to you.

Can I use the PDF Merger on a phone?

Yes, in a current mobile browser. Tap Choose files to pick PDFs, since dragging and dropping usually isn't available on phones. Large files are more likely to hit memory limits on a phone than on a computer.
