About the QR Code Generator
The QR Code Generator turns a web address, or any short piece of text, into a scannable QR code you can download as a PNG. Type or paste into URL or text and the code redraws in the preview as you type; there's no generate button to press. Adjust the Size and Color, then click Download PNG to save qrcode.png.
Generated on your device. The code is drawn in your browser by the open-source qrcode JavaScript library, so your link or text isn't sent to a server to create it. These are static QR codes: the content is encoded directly in the pattern, there's no redirect in between, and nothing expires. The code works for as long as the link inside it does. The trade-off is that you can't change the destination or count scans later, so point it at a page you plan to keep.
Who it's for. Market and craft-fair sellers linking to their shop or a payment page, freelancers adding a portfolio link to business cards, restaurants and event hosts printing menus and sign-up sheets, and creators putting a link on packaging or flyers.
Size and color. Size runs from 100 to 1,000 pixels (default 300), with a narrow white margin built in. For print, generate a larger size so it stays crisp when scaled. The color picker sets the dark squares (default deep navy); the background is always white. Keep strong contrast — very light colors can make the code hard for phone cameras to read.
Example. Paste https://www.etsy.com/shop/YourShopName, set the size to 600 and keep the navy color. The preview updates immediately; scan it with your phone camera to confirm it opens your shop, then click Download PNG and drop qrcode.png into your flyer or business-card design. Test-scan a printed proof before ordering hundreds of copies.
How to use it
- Enter a URL or text. Type or paste what the code should contain into the URL or text field.
- Set the size. Enter a size between 100 and 1,000 pixels; larger is better for print.
- Pick a color. Choose a dark color for the squares so it contrasts well with the white background.
- Test-scan the preview. Point your phone camera at the on-screen code to check it opens the right place.
- Click Download PNG. Save the code as qrcode.png and add it to your design.
Frequently asked questions
Do QR codes from this QR Code Generator expire?
No. They're static codes with your URL or text encoded directly in the pattern, so there's no service in between that could switch them off. A code stops being useful only if the web page it points to goes away.
Can I track how many people scan a QR code made with this generator?
No, static codes don't report scans. If you want to measure traffic, add UTM tags to the URL before generating the code and check visits in your own website or shop analytics.
What size should a QR code from this generator be for business cards and flyers?
Generate it at 600–1,000 px so it prints sharply. A common rule of thumb is to print it at least about 2 cm (0.8 in) square for close-up scanning, and larger the farther away people will be standing.
Why does the QR Code Generator say there's too much text?
A QR code can hold only so much data; at this generator's settings the ceiling is a little over 2,000 characters, and long content makes a dense code that's harder to scan well before that. Use a shorter link, such as one from a URL shortener, for the most reliable result.
Can I add a logo or change the background color in the QR Code Generator?
Not in this tool. You can change the color of the dark squares, but the background stays white and there's no logo option. Keeping a dark-on-white design is also the most reliable choice for scanning.
